REEL MINDS Miami Mental Health Film Festival
NAMI Miami-Dade County, Inc.
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to providing education, support and advocacy for individuals living with mental health challenges and their families. REEL MINDS Miami Mental Health Film Festival is NAMI Miami’s signature educational event, providing stigma-free, accessible information to the South Florida community about mental illness.
Interested in becoming the manager of the Reel Minds: 2019 Miami Mental Health Film Festival?
As the manager of the Reel Minds, you will oversee the film selection under the guidance of the Film Committee Chair.
Responsibilities
- Manage film submission sites
- Oversee organization and selection of films
- Review submitted films
- Ensure all judges receive orientation on how to navigate the film submission sites
- Ensure all judges receive the film judging criteria
- Assign films to judges
- Contact chosen filmmakers
- Prepare synopsis of chosen films
Requirements
- Able to commit to working with NAMI Miami for at least one semester or 6 months.
- Effective management and organizational skills
We will

- Provide you with the opportunity to practice your organization and planning skills
- Provide you with the opportunity to help end the sigma surrounding mental health conditions through films

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Miami-Dade County is an affiliate of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. Approximately 1 in 5 Americans will experience a mental illness in a given year, yet only 41% will receive the mental health services they need and deserve. In advocating for the understanding of the complexity of mental health and expelling myths, educating the public, and showing support for the many people affected by mental illness that are working to improve their lives, NAMI Miami-Dade County offers free, safe, and confidential mental health support, education, and advocacy to peers and their families and friends throughout the county in both English and Spanish.
