Opera NOVA is looking for a production coordinator for its upcoming children’s opera production of Monkey See Monkey Do. It will be performed four times for student audiences on school days and on Saturday for the general public. The production coordinator will work with other theatre personnel to ensure the efficiency of the production process and includes participation in casting, lighting, and many other aspects of the opera. The coordinator will work as a liaison between the cast, crew, and director, verify theater purchases, organize meetings, schedule rehearsal times, and take extensive notes concerning the director's vision, technical issues, and cast blocking to verify continuity. Great opportunity for singers, actors, and retired teachers. If you are interested, please contact the Opera NOVA offices at mcdm1@verizon.net or (703) 536-7557.

Mission Statement

Opera NOVA works to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

Description

Opera NOVA was founded in 1992 as a volunteer-based, non-profit charitable organization to bring the joy of opera to the local community and develop regional support for the performing arts by fostering an appreciation for local theater across generations.

The Guild is incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia and has been recognized by the IRS as a 501 (c) (3) entity.

Over the years, Opera NOVA has offered major financial support for an annual family opera that is attended by school children during week day performances and by children with their families and community-based organizations on weekends. Because of our efforts, 50,000 school-aged children, many of whom would not have the opportunity otherwise, have attended an opera. The performances not only offer children a unique opportunity to hear an opera sung in English, but they also learn about various opera and theatre techniques, from special effects to the intricacies of set and lighting design.
