Youth Basketball Coach

Do you love basketball? Coach kids ages 5-14 in basketball. As a volunteer coach, you commit weekly to one day of practice and one game day. Activities may include planning and directing basketball exercises, communicating with staff and members, and setting up and collecting equipment.

Volunteer Responsibilities

• Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality.
• Support in delivering age-appropriate basketball exercises to Club members.
• Distribute and collect practice and game equipment.
• Supervise and foster a safe and nurturing environment for members during the program.
• Support in sports injury prevention during practices.
• Report all member and parent concerns to the Site Director.
• Positively and effectively, redirect inappropriate member behaviors and implement the program discipline system to effectively monitor and guide proper member behavior.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Background or experience in basketball is a big plus.
• Comfortable leading youth in basketball drills.
• Interest in working with youth.
• Mandatory background check/finger print clearance.
• Be dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments.
• Attend volunteer training sessions as prescribed.
• Be willing to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity information, and take constructive feedback regarding activities.
• Able to accept and execute instructions from staff.
• BGCMLA does not accept court-appointed volunteers.
