ORGANIZATION: Pewaukee Lake Elementary School

Pewaukee Lake Elementary (5K-3rd grade) and Horizon School (4-6th grade) have academic-based volunteers who work one-on-one to help students increase comprehension in both reading and math. The reading volunteers are trained by our Intervention Coaches to listen to students read aloud, help with difficult vocabulary and discuss the story to confirm comprehension. Our Math Mentors work in the classroom with 1-3 students assisting with the day's assignment. Both programs require a weekly commitment of 1-2 hours and a background check.

Build a rapport with the students you assist and help them celebrate as they progress with the additional practice you provide. Pewaukee School District is the second highest rated school in Waukesha County and the only to utilize the large team of dedicated volunteers including parents, grandparents, community members and local organizations as academic-based support.

In addition to reading and math support, we also have openings in the 2 Libraries and as Lunch/Recess Supervisors.
