"Farmers Markets For All" Project Manager
Project OverviewThe intention of this project is to abolish food deserts, reduce food waste and connect people with healthy, local food. By creating partnerships with vendors at farmers markets, farms and other local food distributors, AZSA hopes to redistribute excess produce to low-income communities through pop-up markets at convenient transit locations.
Job PurposeThe project manager for "Farmers Markets For All" (FMA) is responsible for overseeing the development, funding and staffing for a project that intends to redistribute excess produce from farmers markets to low-access regions of Maricopa County in the form of pop-up farmers markets. This is a multi-faceted project and the position will require a range of duties including grant writing, local research, staff management and organizational networking. The project manager will report to the priority leads of the Sustainable Food Systems Priority of AZSA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Create partnerships with local organizations
- Define spatial details of project
- Write grants for project funding reflecting partnerships and strategy
- Create and employ alternative funding strategies
- Create and define job positions for ongoing project operations
- Find and hire necessary staff for project
- Be consistently available and responsive to the AZSA team and partners
- Report progress to the AZSA Food Systems Priority Lead
- Experience in project management
- Experience in grant writing
- Experience in food and/or farm industry
- Driven to help our local food system
Time commitment: Approximately 5-10 Hours Per Week
