Sharing from the Heart

Share Necessities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization teaching mindfulness, yoga, and wellness to at-risk youth in South Central LA. We are committed to "Bringing Inner Peace to the Streets" with our youth programs, community center, and urban garden.

Our youth education program and community center are dedicated to empowering the lives of individuals and families in Los Angeles’s most underserved communities. We believe change starts from the inside out, a healthy body and mind lead to a more positive life, which in turn builds a stronger community.

Volunteers tutors will help low-income youth achieve not only academic but also personal growth and success. Research shows that due to the lack of resources there is a greater likelihood that a low-income child will face incarceration than ever complete a single college course. This is a discouraging statistic. We aim to change that! Our After-School All-Stars program supports strong educational habits, provide a safe and quiet place for study, and promote good health and positive social development for children in our community.

Volunteer tutors serve at our community center one weekday per week from 3:00-5:00 pm. We encourage a 6-month commitment.

Description

The I Make It Count program provides children and young adults with the training and
experiences to live a well-balanced life. Our program inspires them to dream of new
possibilities, create their own opportunities, and practice self-love. With our support and
guidance, students are given an opportunity to find new life paths and realize their full
potential.

Share Necessities’ Next Level CommUNITY Center was established in 2016, as a
place where children can be heard, helped, guided, and protected in the heart of South
Central Los Angeles. In the past two years, our center has brought a sense of hope and
peace to what was once at the top of LAPD’s most violent neighborhoods list. We are
grateful for our collaboration with Mayor Garcetti’s office of Gang Reduction and Youth
Development, with their support we have have made great strides in creating a safe and
thriving neighborhood. The Next Level CommUNITY Center is the heart of our work;
transforming lives and building a resilient community. Our goal is to continue spreading
a message of love and inclusion, and prosper the spirit of community bonding, service,
and education. Please join us in supporting these children, who deserve the opportunity
to experience positivity, opportunities, and hope!
