ORGANIZATION: Operation Jump Start

Operation Jump Start (OJS) is looking for a self-motivated individual to assist the Development
and Communications Manager with fundraising efforts and event planning. Your work and
contribution as a fundraising and special events intern is important in helping OJS fulfill its
mission, which is: to help low-resourced, high-potential first-generation students get in, stay in,
and graduate from a four-year college by providing academic support, mentoring, and exposure
to a broader world.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Writing solicitation letters seeking sponsorships
  • Soliciting for in-kind donations for silent and live auctions
  • Picking up donations
  • Support donor acknowledgement process, including thank you letters and calls
  • Assist logistically with social media campaigns, including content development and
  • activity tracking
  • Assist Development team with planning special events

Qualifications
  • Previous fundraising, event planning, and social media campaign development experience is preferred but not required
  • Must demonstrate experience working with confidential and sensitive information
  • Passion for higher education and empowering underserved youth

Skills
  • Strong customer service skills and interest in relationship building
  • Able to record information with exceptional accuracy
  • Quick to learn new databases, follow directions, and cohesively organize information
  • Patience entering data and not afraid to ask questions
  • Be skilled at a variety of computer skills, e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
