Overview

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) has been active in Kenya for over 20 years working with maligned tribes, caring for and education children born into poverty and providing a place where international knowledge and skills can be employed to support the local community.

Volunteers who sign up to be a part of our Kenya project make a very real impact during their stay at the home participating in any or all of the following local tasks:

  • Volunteers provide hands-on help with the home’s day-to-day operations, helping to ensure a family atmosphere.
  • As part of our famine feed program volunteer will have the opportunity to visit with the villages our children come from and get to understand the modern challenges facing their tribes
  • Volunteers will be taken to visit one or more of the amazing National Parks, lakes and Safari’s neighboring our centre, entering at a discounted rate, check out our Nakuru Tourism guide
  • Volunteers will participate in a cultural exchange organizing special games and activities with our children
  • Volunteers will participate in our sustainable farming project and learn how agriculture is still a vital part of everyday Kenyan life
  • Volunteers are encouraged to support the children’s education, joining in with our evening reading and study programs

Volunteers need no prior experience, but do need to have a love of children, patience and kindness. We provide all the necessary training, background, and supplies necessary for you to have meaningful interactions with the children and the wider community.

Eligibility

IHF is looking for volunteers who can commit to a minimum of two weeks to our Legacy Program. Volunteers interested in this program have several options:

Add value to our NGO by volunteering for an additional 4 hours each day by working for one of our online teams, gaining practical experience in an NGO environment, certification on completion of your stay and a letter of recommendation upon request you could also get a discounted rate for your stay. It is best suited to volunteers interested in gaining practical experience working for an International NGO.
  3. Do you have any special skills or training which would be useful to the centre, the community or the people we support? Let our Volunteer Team know, we have adjustable rates for volunteers willing to run professional legacy projects.

Volunteers accepted to this program will have: confidence using the English language, deep empathy for impoverished children and their communities, and a commitment to our Core Values . Previous international travel and volunteer experiences are a plus.

Mission Statement

To educate impoverished children--activating their highest potential--and educate global citizens, through real life experiences, about the realities of impoverished communities, the value of other cultures, and the many responsibilities of running an international NGO. *Children always come first. We exist first and foremost to meet the needs of the children we serve. *Education empowers. We believe that education unlocks the door to greater potential and empowers people to make good decisions that lead to a brighter future for all of humankind. *Honesty is the only policy. Authenticity, sincerity, and transparency are not only paramount, they’re non-negotiable. *Celebrate differences. There’s a reason we see differently, our differences are not a liability, they are our strength.

Description

The International Humanity Foundation (IHF) is an international non-religious, non-political, and nonprofit organisation that provides education and safe Children's Homes to impoverished children in Indonesia, Kenya, and Thailand through our five (5) IHF Centers.

We function entirely through the efforts of volunteers, sponsors, donors, and an Executive Leadership team from all over the world.

Our Vision:

To develop global leaders with cross-cultural experiences, and respect for different cultures, from differing socioeconomic backgrounds, who are equipped to make decisions that serve and positively impact, promote, and protect the dignity and humanity of people everywhere.
