Elara Caring provides hospice services to patients and their families at the end of life.
Hospice isn’t about dying; it’s about living life the best way you can!
Elara Caring supports our patients and families with Physical, Emotional and Spiritual support throughout the entire journey and to families after!
We understand that caring for a loved one at this time is demanding so we provide volunteers to sit with the patient and provide companionship while the caregiver steps away for a few hours.
Our volunteers are trained to provide a listening ear and understanding attitude while they are with their patient.
All volunteers are required to
- Be at least 17 years old (to provide direct companionship)
- Be at least 16 years old (to provide support in our office)
- Complete a drug test
- Have a background check
- Have fingerprints done

Time is limited, yet of eternal value. What makes it so is how you use it and to whom you give it. Share your gift of time with a patient on their end-of-life journey. No special skills are necessary, just a listening ear and an open heart. It will be some of the most rewarding time you’ll ever spend.
Elara Caring Hospice is currently looking for Volunteers: Companion Volunteers, Pet Therapy, Veteran Volunteers, Office Volunteers, and Crafting Volunteers. We have patients in need in outlying areas as well as the Grand Rapids Area. These areas include Grand Rapids, Big Rapids, Wayland/ Hastings, Greenville, Rockford, Holland, and Saugatuck/Douglas.
