We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual to join the California AmeriCorps Disaster Team, through the American Red Cross. The Disaster Team has the unique opportunity to work on all sides of the recovery process by supporting both the Red Cross and our partner organizations, such as Cal OES, FEMA, etc. Members will serve in a full-time capacity (approximately 40 hours per week) to meet the requirement of 900 service hours throughout the 6-month term.
The AmeriCorps opening in Santa Rosa will serve as a Volunteer Services Coordinator, which entails onboarding new volunteers, as well as establishing relationships with current volunteers. The role will include working in conjunction with the local volunteer and youth services team to meet the volunteer’s needs of the territory by successfully recruiting, onboarding, training and rewarding volunteers. The Coordinator will also assist in preparing members of the community through the delivery of preparedness trainings, and responding to local emergencies. In addition, members of the Disaster Team may be required to deploy for two-week periods to assist with disasters within the State of California.

- Minimum of 18 years of age
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Hold a High School Diploma or GED
- Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Desired: Bilingual language skills
- Bi-weekly stipend of $652.17 (before taxes), health and dental coverage, and childcare assistance to those that qualify
- Upon successful completion of the program, members will receive an Education Award of $2,960 to use towards qualified student loans or future tuition
- Student loan forbearance during the period of service
