Operations Director

Position Summary: Manages the overall operations of the nonprofit, including planning and integration of freeware, software, and hardware to facilitate work in the various departments, including communications, development, volunteer management, and the Priorities. Directly manages the operations team and works with all departments and Priorities.


  • Streamline processes and procedures in cooperation with AZSA Board Strategic Planning Committee
  • Determine technical needs for the nonprofit, planning strategically for the future (aligned with the Board’s strategic plan)
  • Create an operations budget to match the needs of the organization
  • Manage Operations department
  • Risk management to minimize exposure of the nonprofit
  • Regular calls or meetings with the Organizational Director, Programs Director, and the Executive Director

Experience and Skills:

  • Managing multiple projects, people, and objectives
  • Delegates responsibilities effectively
  • Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style and commitment to get the job done
  • Database management
  • Strategic planning
  • Systems level planning about how operations fits into all of the work of a nonprofit
  • Knowledge of necessary software and technology used for nonprofits
  • Flexibility in availability
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, community environment

Time commitment: Approximately 15 hours per week
