ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross

We are looking for self-motivated and passionate individuals to join the Listos AmeriCorps program in the Greater Los Angeles area!

Listos is a disaster preparedness program that is delivered in a format that is both culturally and linguistically appropriate for Latino community. Listos AmeriCorps members will teach basic emergency and disaster readiness to Spanish-speaking members of the community and mentor those who are interested in becoming Listos trainers themselves. Members will serve in a part-time capacity (approximately 30 hours per week) from October 2018 to August 2019, in order to meet the requirement of 1,200 service hours.

Desired Skill Sets:

  • Comfortable with public speaking in Spanish and working with all age groups
  • Willing to frequently travel within the Greater Los Angeles area
  • Independent, self-motivated, creative, and resourceful
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours

Requirements
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Must have a flexible schedule, including availability during evenings and weekends
  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Able to pass a criminal background check
  • Hold a High School Diploma or GED
  • Be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder)

Benefits
  • Bi-weekly stipend of $456.52 (before taxes), health and dental coverage, and childcare assistance to those that qualify
  • Education Award of $4,144 to use for student loans or future tuition, for members who have completed their term in August 2019 and served the 1,200 hours
