We are looking for people to volunteer two hours a week, either on Tuesdays/Thursdays OR Wednesday/Fridays to tutor students who need extra reading support. During that hour, tutors will meet with 2 students for 1/2 hour each. There are two time periods available: mornings from 8:15-9:15 OR afternoons from 2:20-3:20. You will work with the same students for the entire school year. A brief one hour training session will introduce the outline of the STARS program that we use to help children improve their fluency and comprehension. We ask that volunteers commit to at least one hour-long block for the entire school year, however, if you have at least two months to give, we'd be happy to have you!

Description
The AMERICORPS Student Tutoring program matches volunteers with students who need extra reading practice and support. We ask for volunteers who can come to the school for one hour, twice a week, to spend 2 30-minute sessions with a struggling reader and help them advance their reading and comprehension skills.
