Almost 75% of boys who leave juvenile prison often face stigma and rejection from family members thereby, committing crimes and going back to prison as hardened criminals. Lifesong Kenya seeks to address this by providing a half way centre. That is where the Lifesong Kenya running and cycling team comes in.
Our team is planning to run a fundraising event by cycling from Nairobi to Lake Victoria (approx 500 KM) on December 12-22, 2019. Our goal is to raise enough funds and resources to begin construction a half way house for the boys leaving prison.
Lifesong Kenya is looking for a volunteer to advice on how to obtain sponsorship and meet our target. To find out more about what Lifesong Kenya does, click the following links

Our dream is to grow this from a local event to an annual international one.

Mission Statement
The main mission of Lifesong Kenya is to provide a second chance to male teens who are in conflict with the law through restorative justice, education and transitional housing.
Description
Lifesong Kenya works with young men whose self-esteem and confidence is completely shattered and needs rebuilding. Our first step is to help them replace old habits with new thoughts and ways of doing things.
As opposed to the punitive justice system, the approach adopted by Lifesong Kenya is reparative. Our action plan is divided into three moments through which we closely follow at-risk male teens and young men who committed minor offences, and we offer them an alternative: Prevention, Restorative Justice and Reintegration.
Over the past seven years, Lifesong Kenya has partnered with youth, parents, prison staff and primary schools. We’ve served over 1220 male youth and had close to 10 court cases withdrawn after our intervention.
Several youth have gone back to school and college to complete their education. We also served over 30 families during Covid-19 pandemic where we planned meals and bought food from local sellers in the community.
"When I was joining Lifesong Kenya's REAM Program, I didn’t know how to operate a computer or design business cards. I also did not know that my complainant would withdraw the charges against me and that I would be free to go home. Lastly, the program helped change my character and the way I look at friendship. Thank you Lifesong Kenya for changing my life and helping me to see my full potential!"
