There are several ways to volunteer. We need help at our distribution center Thursday, April 25th through Sunday April 28th. Those folks will help distribute paint supplies to the 100 teams that come in to pick up their supplies on Friday. On Sunday, April 28th the volunteers will receive supplies which are being returned by the teams. Those supplies will be redistributed and boxed for our next years event.
On Saturday, April 27th (Paint Day), those volunteers can be used for painting homes. They would be assigned to teams that do not have enough volunteers and need additional help.
In addition, on and ongoing basis, we are always looking to recruit new members to our steering committee. This committee meets several times throughout the year to coordinate this amazing event featuring 2500 volunteers! Most of these meetings are held virtually once a month in the evening. Please let us know if you would be interested to learn more about serving on this committee.

Mission Statement
Paint Your Heart Out Tampa is a city-wide program that enables citizens, businesses, clubs, and organizations to lend a helping hand to low-income, elderly citizens in our community. Over the past 26 years, volunteers and sponsors have given of themselves to paint the homes of more than 2,600 grateful and deserving homeowners. Over 2,000 volunteers comb out throughout the city on one day each year and paint 100 homes.
Description
Paint Your Heart Out Tampa is a one day volunteer effort to paint the homes of the low income, elderly residents of Tampa. The idea for this program was borrowed from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and brought to Tampa in 1988. In September of that year, a fifty member Steering Committee was formed to organize the first Paint Day, which was to be held in the spring of 1989. Throughout the year, homes are identified for painting. Weeks before paint day, usually in April, powerwash teams are sent out to wash down wach home. Teams from the city trim and remove excess brush that may inhibit access to the home be the paint team.
Teams of 15- 25 are formed from various churches, businesses and city departments. Some teams have been painting for over 20 years! These teams are matched up with a home. On Paint day, they will meet at the home and before the day is over, the house takes on a new look, transitioning from an old tired abode to a bright clean home.
