On Thursday, September 26th, 2019-
We will be packing 650 gift bags with goodies donated for our guests attending the 2019 Hero Dog Awards ( herodogawards.org). Attendees at the gala purchased tickets which support American Humane's lifesaving programs for animals, and each guest receives a gift bag at the gala. We will have 10-12 items to stuff in gift bags and set up as an assembly line for efficiency. The more help we have, may move quicker than the 4 hours allotted. We will be stuffing gift bags, organizing them in boxes & having fun!
Pizza & refreshments will be provided, we have free parking on site in Studio City (located next to Pinz on Ventura Blvd. near Coldwater.) We are a FUN group of animal loving employees and other volunteers will be in attendance. You'll be moving around, so wear comfortable clothes & shoes (you will be on your feet majority of the time). We don't have pups on site (so sorry!) but rest assured, your hard work is going back to programs that help animals in need all over the U.S.
We will kick off at 4 PM, but welcome your helping hands still, even if can't come until a bit later (5-6pm).

Mission Statement
American Humane Hero Dog Awards is an annual campaign that recognizes heroes on both ends of the leash. Seven lucky finalists and their human companions will be flown to Hollywood for a star-studded awards gala, which will be broadcast nationwide on Hallmark Channel next fall. Of all the courageous canines, one dog will be awarded the grand prize American Hero Dog title.
Description
The eighth annual Hero Dog Awards honors the heroes at both ends of the leash, with seven categories of working dogs such as Military, Guide/Hearing, Law Enforcement/Arson, Search & Rescue, Therapy, Service and Emerging Hero. Over 650 guests attend the Hero Dog Awards gala each September at the Beverly Hilton, and the show airs on Hallmark Channel in October. All proceeds from the gala and ticket sales go back to American Humane's lifesaving programs for animals in need. American Humane in the first animal welfare organization in the U.S., founded in 1877. Other programs at American Humane include Shelter to Service, which provides shelter dogs turned service animals to veterans suffering from PTSD and TBI injuries, and Humane Hollywood, which ensures the safety of animals on film and television sets. The Hero Dog Awards will have over 100 veterans in attendance free of charge.
