Veteran Volunteers are important members of the Hospice Care Team. Vets have a unique bond with Veteran patients, especially at the end of life. They help hospice patients and families many ways such as offering companionship and listening, reading aloud, filling in to give family caregivers a break, or shopping or running errands.

Volunteers visit a patient an average of once a week, for 1-3 hours (including driving time). The time commitment may fluctuate depending upon the patient’s needs and the volunteer’s availability.
