Bilingual Paralegal or Administrative Assistant

Background Information: The Homelessness Prevention Law Project covers a wide variety of matters including government benefits advocacy, advising on tenants’ rights, and eviction defense.

We need a paralegal or administrative assistant who is able to contact clients, especially Spanish speaking clients, to set up appointments and deliver concrete information under the supervision of an attorney. In addition we need assistance with translating documents and a variety of administrative tasks.

Minimum Qualifications: Must be fluent in Spanish and English, have at least two years of administrative experience, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

Expected Time Commitment: A minimum of three days per week on site during normal business hours, for a minimum of three months.

Date Needed: Immediate.

Location: Public Counsel’s main office: 610 South Ardmore Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90005 or at off-site legal clinic locations.

Founded in 1970, Public Counsel is the public interest law office of the Los Angeles County and Beverly Hills Bar Associations. It is also the Southern California affiliate of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.Public Counsel's six law projects include legal specialties in Community Development and nonprofit law; Child Care law; Children's Rights including adoptions, guardianships, and dependent children's tort claims; Consumer Fraud including bankruptcy, home equity abuse and loan fraud; Homelessness Prevention serving youth, veterans and individuals seeking general relief; and Immigrants' Rights law with a focus on asylum and cases that invoke the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
