Mulching at Fisher Street Park

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Raleigh Parks Volunteer Services Program

* IN ORDER TO REGISTER AS A VOLUNTEER FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY YOU MUST EMAIL MARY.OWENS@RALEIGHNC.GOV *

Event Description:

You're invited to give back to Fisher Street Park! Volunteers are needed to assist with mulching to help beautify the park.

Impact: Mulching plays an important role in well landscaped areas as it controls weed growth, provides moisture for plants, and an overall positive aesthetic look to the park!

Volunteer Duties: Spreading mulch around the landscaped areas. Volunteers will work in teams to help fill wheelbarrows, run wheelbarrows and dump mulch in identified landscape beds, and rake mulch.

Work Environment: This project will be outside so we recommend dressing for the weather. There is the possibility of uneven surfaces and there is no restroom on site, but we are close to some shopping centers.

Volunteer Requirements: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. All volunteers will need to sign volunteer release forms. If a volunteer is under the age of 18 then a parent or guardian will need to sign their form as well.

We will supply: tools, gloves, water, snacks, first-aid kit, bug spray and sunscreen. Volunteers must wear loose comfortable clothing that can get dirty (in layers for weather) and sturdy closed-toe shoes like hiking/work boots or sneakers.

**Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. If interested in registering a group, please email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov . We require a list of names and their email addresses to hold spots for groups.*

Per department policy this event cannot count towards court-appointed or suggested community service hours.
