iMentor is seeking extraordinary volunteers like you to participate in our mentoring program this school year! We have a year full of exciting events and opportunities for our students to learn from remarkable professionals like you who can help them become stronger self-advocates and be ready to take on the college process.
We would like to highlight one of our schools with our highest needs for mentors - the International High School of Lafayette. Their curriculum aligns with the important skills that students need to succeed today. Their linguistic skills are bolstered, their cultural awareness is heightened, and their collaborative abilities are put on the forefront.
Your knowledge, skills, and expertise could be a great asset in your potential mentee’s success. If you think you could go to BASE once per month to see your mentee, please let me know and we can prioritize your application.
The first step in becoming a mentor is to attend a Mentor Orientation. There, you will receive more information about our program, our students, and best practices for being a mentor. Along with attending Mentor Orientation, you must also fill out a Mentor Application! Having your application in progress (or even complete) by the time you attend orientation will help expedite your screening process. For more information about iMentor’s programs, feel free to check out our website.

Mission Statement
iMentor builds mentoring relationships that empower first-generation students to graduate high school, succeed in college and career, and achieve their ambitions.
Description
iMentor matches high school students (mentees) one-on-one with volunteer adult mentors based on shared career and personal interests. Matched in relationships ranging from a minimum of two years to a maximum of 4 years, mentor-mentee pairs cultivate their relationship employing a combination of weekly written messages and monthly in-person meetings.
iMentor is changing the face of youth mentoring. iMentor proves that (1) even the busiest, most successful New Yorkers have time to be quality mentors and that (2) formal mentoring increases the rate at which young people graduate from college, which benefits not only them as individuals, but society at large.
iMentor uses mentoring to bridge the divide between New York City’s diverse communities, creating unique and dynamic relationships that would not have been possible without the program. By exposing both mentors and mentees to new facets of their shared city, iMentor facilitates meaningful connections, empowering youth with the skills and resources critical for personal, academic, and career success.
Every student deserves a champion.
