Volunteers are needed to interact with our cats in the mornings and evenings. In some cases it requires changing their litter boxes. Volunteers are also needed to exercise and socialize our dogs in the mornings and evenings. Exercise is done by walking each dog on a leash around our property and letting the dogs run in our 2 outside play yards. Socialization is done by playing with the dogs and/or snuggling with them in our 2 living room settings.
You can choose as many hours as you like to volunteer.

Mission Statement
The Helen O. Krause Animal Foundation, Inc. (HOKAFI) is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter for dogs and cats located in Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. The shelter is run primarily by a dedicated corps of volunteers and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Foundation depends entirely on the private sector for funding through donations, membership dues, grants and fundraising activities.
Description
The shelter, founded by the late Helen Opperman Krause, now sits on approximately two acres of landscaped grounds in a rural community and consists of a state-of-the-art main cat shelter built in 1999, a recently remodeled cat shelter annex and a dog kennel. At any given time, this complex is home to as many as 100 cats and kittens and 10 dogs.
