What's cuter than a baby bunny munching on a fresh piece of lettuce? Nothing! Come witness the joy of dozens of bunnies when they hear the bag of treats being shaken by helping us with feeding. This is especially beneficial to shy or scared rabbits as they begin to associate humans with good things like food.

Feeding may include:
- Adding new hay into the enclosure
- Filling up pellet and water bowls
- Giving fresh veggies and greens to everyone (The bunnies get very excited)
- Washing their food and water dishes
- Giving each rabbit a treat and petting them just to show some love

Experience with rabbits needed: Low- Volunteers will need to be able to safely handle rabbits and pet them. They should be able to follow written instructions as some rabbits have special dietary needs. Training will be provided.

NOTE: Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. They should be able to follow instructions and may require parental supervision and help. This is a great way to teach compassion and the tasks associated with owning a pet.

Mission Statement

Friends of Rabbits (FoR) was founded in 1997 as an all-volunteer rabbit rescue organization dedicated to finding loving, indoor homes for rabbits in need. We are a nonprofit 501c3 organization based in the Washington DC / Baltimore greater metropolitan area.

Description

Friends of Rabbits rescues, rehabilitates and adopts out more than 100 rabbits each year, and 82% of all donations go directly to purchasing supplies and veterinary care for our rabbits. When you adopt from us you truly save a life, enabling volunteers to pull another rabbit in need from local animal control facilities. Our rabbits frequently come from the top of the euthanasia list, often within hours of being put to sleep for lack of space, temperament, and physical imperfections. For also works with area shelters to provide rabbit care education and to take in rabbits when shelters are overloaded.
