Join the Palo Alto City Library as a Sensory Storytime assistant! Sensory Storytime is PACL's storytime exclusively for children with autism or sensory processing challenges. In Sensory Storytime, we engage all of the senses through music, movement, stories, and play in six week sessions. Sensory Storytime is a registration-only, closed storytime limited to 10 children (not including caregivers or siblings.) The children who participate in Sensory Storytime range from late-toddler age to upper-preschool. Sensory Storytime participants are a fun group of kids who are excited to have their very own storytime!
The assistant must be able to commit for six consecutive weeks from 1:30-3:00PM on Fridays in September and October. The assistant will not be leading storytime, just helping the storytime librarian. The ideal assistant will have some experience working with children with autism and sensory processing challenges. The ideal assistant will also be enthusiastic but calm. Additional opportunities for further assisting at future Sensory Storytimes may be available, pending staffing needs.
