Event Description:

The San Luis Obispo Symphony's first concert of the season is scheduled for Saturday, October 6 at the Performing Arts Center of San Luis obispo. The San Luis Obispo Symphony under the new director Andrew Sewell will perform an engaging and dramatic opening concert featuring guest soloists. This concert features Brahms Symphony No. 3 and the 'Double Rainbow' Concerto for 2 Pianists and Orchestra.

Volunteer Opportunities:

The SLO Symphony is currently seeking volunteers to help the Symphony team with concert operations related tasks for rehearsals and performances. If you're interested in orchestral music and/or possibly brushing shoulders with guest artists, then volunteering with the SLO Symphony might just be right for you!

The Mission of the San Luis Obispo Symphony is to support an outstanding community orchestra, to foster symphonic and chamber music education, and to contribute to the cultural and economic vitality of the central coast community.

Description

For 60 years, the San Luis Obispo Symphony has enriched the Central Coast community with the joy of music. SLO Symphony's Music Education programs have given children the opportunity to learn to love music and work with their ensembles to create harmony. The orchestra has brought world-class POPS and classical concerts to music lovers from all walks of life.

Since SLO Symphony was incorporated in 1961 it has grown significantly to become a leading arts institution in the community with 70 orchestra members. SLO Symphony produces 9 concerts and events per year in San Luis Obispo County and educates local youth through a Youth Symphony program with six ensembles and music education programs such as a Music Van that visits local schools and a Musical Petting Zoo that attends community events. The Symphony music education programs have touched more than 16,000 youth per year in its 60-year tenure.
