High Tech Kids is a Minnesota non-profit and affiliate partner of FIRST that is in need of over 40 volunteers for each of the 40 robotic tournaments held between November through February. Every year, over 900 volunteers reach children at an age when they make decisions (grades 3 - 9) that will impact their ability to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers, and enable these future citizens to be technologically literate.

Volunteer roles offered at training are for FIRST LEGO League and FIRST Tech Challenge Judges, Referees, and Computer Scoring (Only at select locations). We welcome anyone interested in volunteering with us, even if you don't have technical skills. Attend a free training session to learn more about how you can make an impact.

Mission Statement

High Tech Kids delivers fun, hands-on science, engineering and technology programs and events that inspire Minnesota kids in their formative years. We inspire kids to BUILD confidence, CREATE opportunities, and THRIVE in the 21st century.

Description

High Tech Kids is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit that supports the Minnesota FIRST LEGO League Explore, FIRST LEGO League Challenge and Minnesota FIRST Tech Challenge each fall/winter. Through these programs we train, teach and empower student teams, coaches and volunteers.

With the help of more than 700 volunteers, we work hard to offer high energy, fun, team-based programs and competitions that celebrate science and technology. Kids learn how to work together, solve real-world problems and become leaders. To support High Tech Kids is to invest in our children, to share our passion, and to inspire these future innovators, leaders, collaborators, and problem solvers for the 21st century.

High Tech Kids now serves over 7,500 kids across Minnesota each year. Since our inception in 1999 we have helped over 67,000 students discover the fun in science and technology.

High Tech Kids’ programs, training, research workshops and competitions provide adult volunteers the opportunity to share their enthusiasm and expertise with young people in their community. These volunteers encourage kids to explore future STEM career possibilities.
