AseraCare Hospice companionship volunteers spend time with patients by reading to them, assisting writing letters or birthday cards, polishing fingernails, praying with or for, reading scripture to, and providing a comforting presence.
Volunteer hours are flexible, working around your schedule. AseraCare just asks that you provide at least 30 minutes per week.
Training is provided free of charge, and is available in a classroom setting, online, or both.
It takes compassion, open-mindedness, and a caring heart to be a volunteer.
For more information and how to get started, please contact me today! Due to covid-19 currently no visits are being completed at this time. We are still onboarding volunteers so they will be ready to start once restrictions are lifted..

Mission Statement
To provide innovative healthcare one person, one family, and one community at a time.
Description
AseraCare is a family-centered hospice. We provide hospice services to patients and their families in the place they call home - in their apartment or house, assisted living or nursing home. Our services include RN case management, home health aid visits, social work, spiritual care, volunteers, and bereavement support for the families.
Hospice volunteers are needed in St. Joseph's County, Elkhart County, Marshall County, LaGrange, Fulton County and Kosciusko County to provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families according to the patient's plan of care. Hospice patients are individuals with terminal illnesses with a life expectancy of 6 months or less. Volunteer support me be in form of conversation, handholding, simple presence at the bedside, recreational activities, and pet/music therapy. Volunteers have the opportunity to develop on-going relationships with patients and families throughout their illness, or may be involved in short term "vigil" relationships.
