Move That Privy
ORGANIZATION: APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY
Please visit the new page to apply.
There aren’t many toilets that flush on the Appalachian Trail, but there are plenty of privies! With so many visitors to the Trail each year, those outhouses fill up fast and they help to concentrate the impact of hiker waste.
Join the Berkshire Chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club on Tuesday, August 21 from 9 a.m to 4 p.m as they dig a new pit to place the Shaker campsite privy over. The group will also be checking the privy at the October Mountain shelter and moving that one as well, if necessary.
All tools and training will be provided. Wear sturdy boots, long pants and work gloves, or latex gloves and eye protection. Also, bring your own lunch, personal snacks and water.
Advanced registration necessary; please use this link in registering for this event.22 More opportunities with APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY

Description
Appalachian Trail (A.T.) is a project built on civic engagement. It exists because people like you step up and help out in a variety of ways, outdoors or inside. Activities can be physical (such as Trail work or boundary maintenance), creative (like contributing photography or writing), or organizational (like planning or leading activities).
Volunteers gain new skills through their work. Whether you volunteer because you enjoy time in nature, want to forge new friendships, or appreciate having a deeper connection to a place you hold in high regard, we are glad you are here.
There are a variety of ways to contribute your talents and your time.
