This is a Great Opportunity for You to Make a Real Difference for Youth in Your Community!
Do you enjoy working with school age children and teens? If you have a willingness and a desire to help elementary and middle school students learn and succeed then we have a great opportunity for you as the volunteer Homework Zone Program Coordinator.
The Fair Oaks after school homework program will start in September and will be offered three days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays each day from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The Homework Zone follows the school calendar observing school closures for holidays and breaks. Local teens act as coaches to the students who drop in to get help with their homework.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework, providing general oversight and direction for the program which includes room logistics (set up/clean up) ensuring teen coaches are matched with students and completing homework zone attendance records.
You are comfortable interacting with children, teens and adults; able to work independently in a team-oriented, public service environment.
We are seeking 2 adults to be the Program Coordinators during the days the program is offered. Be sure to indicate the day or days that you are interested in volunteering. Please consider this opportunity - you can make a big difference for youth in your community.
Training and orientation will be scheduled prior to the start of the program.
This positions requires a Live Scan background check for volunteers over 18.
