Hospice Volunteers Needed
17 people are interested
At Home Care Hospice is looking for dedicated and compassionate volunteers to serve our patients and families. AT Home Care Hospice gives volunteers a unique opportunity to provide support to patients and grow as an individual, while working with those with a terminal diagnosis. We offer many ways that a volunteer can be a part of our team;
Support for patients. This can include visiting, reading, taking walks, writing letters, interpreting for those who do not speak English, bringing in music, and supervising therapeutic visits with pets. Just being there with the patient is sometimes enough to ease them. If you like playing board games or cards, this would be a great way to spend some time with a patient!
Respite and support for family members . Volunteers can assist light household maintenance, or allow family caregivers the opportunity to take care of necessary errands, exercise, or simply have some time alone by sitting with the patient for them. Volunteers can also help care for a family pet.
Bereavement support programs. Hospice volunteers can work closely with the hospice’s bereavement staff. Duties may include assisting a support group facilitator, serving refreshments, or helping with mailings or phone calls to families.
Administrative work. A volunteer with clerical skills can serve a hospice by helping in the office with administrative duties.
Special skills and interests. We would love to have volunteers with special skills. Do you speak a different language? Are you a notary, barber, or beautician or musician? Do you have a certified therapy dog? We would love to talk to you!
We are always open and ready to try new ways to give back to our patients and our community. Come join our team and help us bring joy to our patients and families.
If interested please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone the office at (804) 358-3480.
