Habitat for Humanity of Broward is a nonprofit housing organization whose vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat Broward works toward our vision by building strength, stability and self-reliance in partnership with families in need, who help build their own home alongside volunteers and who pay an affordable mortgage.
The effective utilization of volunteers in all areas of the affiliate will enable Habitat Broward to save costs while building or repairing more homes and serving more families. If you are interested in playing a direct role in creating a simple, friendly and effective process to provide potential volunteers with the information they need, this is a great opportunity for you!
Volunteer Engagement Assistant volunteer will provide support to the Director of Volunteer Engagement and/or Volunteer Engagement Coordinator with administrative duties including:
Answering incoming telephone calls and/or checking voicemail messages
Providing individual volunteers with information regarding volunteer opportunities (Construction, ReStore, Office), online sign-up, waivers, etc
Assisting with the collection of Community and Corporate Group applications and helping to gather necessary information to schedule their opportunity
Organizing volunteer sign in sheets, sending thank you emails to first-time volunteers
Assisting with the creation and maintenance of leader and core personnel files and ensuring necessary information is captured
Directing group and/or court-ordered volunteers to the appropriate department staff
We are looking for flexible volunteers with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a friendly, engaging attitude and a willingness to help diverse individuals is important. No experience is required, however volunteers who have skills in customer service, office administration, active listening and time management are especially valuable.
This opportunity is available Any Tuesday through Friday; time of day can be flexible - 3 hour shift.
Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and commit to at least one volunteer shift per week. All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Information Waiver form prior to beginning first shift and must be dressed in presentable attire.
