If you are interested in playing a direct role in creating a friendly, welcoming, fun and safe construction site for our Saturday construction volunteers, and help our affiliate raise awareness and funds via the Habitat Broward store, this is a great opportunity for you!
Construction site Hospitality Volunteers will provide on-site support to the Director of Volunteer Engagement, Volunteer Engagement Coordinator and Construction Site Supervisors by:
Assisting with morning set-up: sign-in table, sign-in sheets and waiver forms; canopies for shaded area with water/Gatorade station
Greeting and welcoming each volunteer as he/she arrives, helping them sign-in on correct sheet and securing liability waiver form
Checking that individual and/or group youth volunteers have designated chaperone and informing HFHB staff if youth volunteers are unaccompanied
Instructing volunteers to take required safety equipment (hard hats, safety glasses, gloves etc) after sign-in
Delivering bottled water to volunteers participating in construction tasks and making sure volunteers are not overexerting themselves
Setting up mid-morning snacks and calling volunteers by house for break time
Setting up the Habitat Broward store and selling merchandise to volunteers; maintaining petty cash (for change) and tracking sales for the day
We are looking for flexible volunteers with excellent verbal communication skills, a friendly, engaging attitude and a willingness to help diverse individuals. No experience is required, however volunteers who have skills in customer service, hospitality or events are especially valuable.
This opportunity is available Saturday mornings, from 7:00 am - 11:00 am on active construction sites (address to be provided per shift as there may be multiple sites open)
Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and commit to at least one volunteer shift per month. All volunteers must complete the Volunteer Information Waiver form prior to beginning first shift and must be dressed in clothes that can get dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
