We are looking for an intelligent, driven, positive-thinking individual to join our team as an intern to help us prepare for our upcoming Girls’ Festival. The Girls’ Festival is an amazing day of power and possibility for Bay Area girls and their families. Our third annual festival will take place on Saturday, November 9th at Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco, and we expect about 5,000 attendees! The internship will begin in early August and finish in early November. Applicants should be prepared to get involved hands-on in a variety of projects surrounding the event. We are a friendly team working in a lovely office in Mill Valley, and we are hoping to find someone who fits well with us and who is looking to make real change!

Intern will assist operations and development staff with the following:

  • Event Preparation
    • Communication (via email and phone) and coordination with our non-profit partners & volunteers
    • Learn festival program deeply so as to be a support the day of
    • Assist on November 8th & 9th at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco
    • Organize and coordinate career mentoring panelists/moderators
  • Online Communication & Public Relations
    • Search for and contact publications to feature the Girls’ Festival
    • Basic marketing outreach to spread the word
    • Potential for social media marketing projects

Requirements:

  • High school diploma; some college preferred
  • Interest in career in Communications, Public Relations, Events, Non-Profit or related field
  • Strong computer & program skills (Mac or PC)
    • Proficient in Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs
      • Experience with design programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Pages) a PLUS!
    • Experience with social media networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Hootsuite) preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work well with a team and in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to multi-task and remain flexible with day-to-day responsibilities
  • Available to work 10 hours per week; one day in our Mill Valley office and the rest can be done remotely
  • Must be available Friday, November 8th and Saturday, November 9th for the event.
  • Passion for women and girls’ rights a plus!
