Become a Volunteer Mediator; help your community one relationship at a time!
Restorative Justice Partners, Inc. 5019(c)3, is hosting a three-day training. The Victim Offender Reconciliation Program will be training community members to become volunteer mediators for juvenile cases referred by the Monterey County Probation Department. The training will provide the necessary skills for facilitating mediations between victims and juvenile offenders. Trainees will learn about RJP’s history, in and outs of conflict, effective communication, and mediation. Hands-on role play practices and materials will be provided along with a meal.
Please contact Veronica Miramontes, Victim Offender Reconciliation Coordinator at rjp.vorp@gmail.com or (831) 384-4325 to receive an application for the training. Applications due September 14, 2018. Costs are free for students with ID card, $15 for a one year volunteer commitment, or $300 for no volunteer commitment. Bi-lingual speakers are especially needed. Background checks & fingerprinting required the cost will be reimbursed by RJP. The nine hour training that will be split into three days, you must be able to attend all three sessions and must be 18 or older to volunteer. FACT: Over 88% of our juvenile offenders do not re-offend and are able to move forward in their young lives thanks to our volunteers!
