Mattress Factory Contemporary Art Museum is in need of volunteers for three big events in September:
Thursday, September 13th: a Party for Barbara | 6-10pm
This will be a celebration to commemorate our late founder and director, Barbara Luderowski, and her dedication to the museum and the North Side. Volunteers will be needed to direct the flow of traffic and provide extra assistance to staff.
Friday, September 21st: Exhibitions Opening | 6-10pm
The Mattress Factory Museum will be introducing 5 new exhibitions from our Artists in Residence. New work from artists: William Earl Kofmehl III (Pittsburgh), Laleh Mehran (Colorado), OSGEMEOS (Brazil), Karina Smigla-Bobinski (Germany), Christina A. West (Georgia). Volunteers will direct the flow of traffic, operate the elevators, and monitor the new and old installations.
Sunday, September 30th: RADical Day at the Mattress Factory Contemporary Art Museum (FREE admission day!) | 1-5pm
Bringing over 800 people to the museum, RADical Day is a day of free admission making site-specific installation art accessible to everyone! Since it one of the busiest times of the year, we need all hands on deck! Volunteers will be assisting with flow of traffic, answering basic questions, and monitoring the art.

Mission Statement
The Mattress Factory is a research and development lab for artists. As a museum of contemporary art, it commissions new site-specific works, presents them to the widest possible audience, and maintains selected individual installations in a growing-and distinctive-permanent collection. The Mattress Factory's physical and organizational environments have grown out of and in response to a central focus on the process of creativity.
Description
The Mattress Factory is an internationally renowned museum of site-specific installation art. Artists are selected to live at the Mattress Factory for 4-6 weeks, and receive complete support, including a stipend, payment for all materials, help with the labor involved in building an installation, etc. Artists create environments based around the characteristics of the space they are given, the history of the city, or whatever occurs to them. Installations are site-specific.
