Social Media and Communications Internship - Fall 2018

INTERING AT THE IIIC
Join our team at the IIIC! Our interns and staff bring enthusiasm, and a commitment to our mission and to the work they do at the Center. The Communications Intern is an important member of the communications/marketing team. Dedicated interns help us to promote events, develop marketing materials, and share our vision of a society where all people are welcomed.

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Irish International Immigrant Center seeks a Communications Intern to assist the organization with developing and maintaining our outreach: online, through Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN, Vertical Response and the IIIC’s website, and in print, through editorial drafts, print publication submission, development of marketing materials and other communications efforts that support fundraising, promote our work, and direct clients to our services.

Time Commitment: 16-24 hours/week, unpaid (time commitment is flexible)

Start/End Date: September 2018 - December 2018

Responsibilities:

  • Design all IIIC marketing materials using Adobe InDesign
  • Assist our program and development teams to organize and promote our events
  • Promote our social media presence and determine relevant posts to disseminate the organization’s outreach in line with the mission of the organization
  • Project manage and produce monthly on-line newsletter
  • Research current topics and events relevant to IIIC mission and programs
  • Assist with preparation of press releases, flyers, and other marketing materials
  • Perform other tasks as required

Requirements:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with Google Drive, Sheets, Docs, etc.
  • Familiarity with InDesign and/or Word Press
  • Familiarity with Get Response, MailChimp or other email marketing platform preferred
  • Organization, attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a flexible, dynamic environment
  • Ability to work respectfully in a multicultural environment
  • Commitment to the overall mission of the IIIC

Founded in 1989, the Irish International Immigrant Center assists immigrants from Ireland and around the globe as they integrate into American society, and provides learning and work opportunities for young Irish men and women who come to the U.S. each year. We are a vibrant welcome center that provides legal, wellness and education services, works for change, and builds community. Each year, the Center’s programs assist over 3,000 immigrant and refugees families and individuals from more than 120 countries.

We run a number of cross-community, cross-border programs through our partners in Northern Ireland for young unemployed adults.
