Ascend Hospice offers counseling services that begin at the time of admission and bereavement assistance that continues for 13 months following the patient’s death.
We understand that the grieving process is different for every individual - even among family members. Our bereavement program is individualized to meet the many different relationships and needs of our families. We also offer support groups and memorial services to ensure family members know they are not alone after their loved one passes.
Our bereavement team is looking for compassionate, caring individuals to help in Marlborough, MA office. Volunteers can make phone calls to family members to provide active listening and assess their needs; help prepare mailings with literature and support services information; help our coordinators look up supportive services throughout the area; or volunteers can even make in person bereavement visits to offer emotional support or a comforting presence.
All volunteers are offered extensive training before becoming a volunteer and plenty of staff support along the way!

Hospice volunteers bring comfort, joy and love to patients who are terminally ill through their actions.
Volunteers simply need a caring heart and a willingness to serve. The extensive volunteer training program provides them with an awareness of patient's needs and prepares them to participate with the hospice team.
