ORGANIZATION: Alzheimer's Association Washington State Chapter

Position Title: Marketing & Communications Intern

Purpose: Our Chapter is seeking a motivated, creative Marketing & Communication Intern to help us raise awareness of the Alzheimer’s Association and promote participation in it’s programs, services and events. In partnership with the Communications Team, this person will primarily focus on content development and media outreach.

Assignments may include:

  • Contribute content for social media, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
  • Assist in developing content for the AlzWa Blo
  • Write and distribute media alerts and press releases; add events to community calendars.
  • Conduct media research and help develop outreach strategies, including creating press kits.
  • Assist with print and online communication projects including copywriting, editing and design.
  • Provide general project and operational support to Marketing and Communications team.
  • Participate in and provide support for Chapter events, including the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, Discovery Conference, Advocacy Day and other events as needed.
  • Other communications projects as needed.

Reports to: Director of Marketing & Communications and Communications Specialist

Length of Appointment: 3 months - 1 year

Time Commitment: Minimum 15-20 hours per week; flexible schedule during regular business hours, Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30 p.m.

Location: Lynnwood, WA (Main Office); remote work may be possible

Qualifications:

  • Major in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style a plus.
  • Ability to meet people easily and establish relationships.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
  • May require working on evenings/weekends or travelling locally/regionally to capture constituent stories or conduct media outreach.
