Are you passionate about recycling? This is an excellent opportunity for retired folks to stay active and make a difference in the community! Help your community and the environment by volunteering at our Red Bridge Community Recycling Center! Recycling preserves forests; keeps oil, natural gas, and minerals in the ground; and prevents air and water pollution. Bridging The Gap’s Community Recycling Centers are essential because they accept items not recycled curbside and provide options to the many people who do not have recycling available at home.
This is an ongoing opportunity, Wednesday through Saturday, but we have a special need for Wednesday morning helpers at the Red Bridge location. Wednesday morning shift of 9:00 AM - Noon is our most needed, but if that exact time does not, we can set up a shift that works for you. Volunteers assist the recycling center site manager with various duties, such as breaking down cardboard, assisting patrons, etc. Bonus: All volunteers will receive a reusable branded "Bridging The Gap" shopping bag and a KIND granola bar, courtesy of Cargill Cares!
The Red Bridge Recycling Center is located at 5200 E. Red Bridge Rd., Kansas City, MO 64137 in the KCATA Park-and-Ride commuter parking lot.
Min age: 8 with parent. Volunteer alone at 14 yrs. Restrictions differ for groups. All volunteers must register in advance. Contact Amy Smith at 816-561-1062 or email volunteer@bridgingthegap.org, mentioning your preferred location and volunteer date/time.

Bridging The Gap (BTG) educates citizens, businesses and governments about the impact their decisions have on our environment. We help them follow through with direct action to make our world, region and community green, healthy and sustainable.
BTG does this by working to create awareness of our environment and the need to make our communities sustainable at every level and in all life activities -- in homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods. In all of our work, we seek to create partnerships among governments, businesses, community leaders and individuals to improve our community by making it healthy and sustainable for our future.
