EAGAN - Food Donation Pick Up Volunteer

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Neighbors, Inc.

  • 4 people are interested

The Neighbors’ food shelf provides food to more than 500 families each month and most of the food is donated by area grocery stores. Donation pickup drivers make it possible for Neighbors to receive these donations by picking up the food at the stores and transporting it to Neighbors. We have a current need to pickup food at Two Eagan Groceries and deliver to Neighbors in South St. Paul.

Key Activities
  • Pick up food donations at locations in or around Dakota County
  • Volunteers use their own vehicles to pick up donations, so typically a truck or SUV is necessary
  • Volunteers load donations on their own at the grocery store and then transport the items to Neighbors, where food shelf volunteers help with the unloading
Qualifications
  • Must be 18+ or 10 if accompanied by an adult
  • Have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, a reliable vehicle and a clean driving record
  • Able to lift bags or boxes of food
  • Willingness to follow the instructions Neighbors has received from the grocery store, which may include boxing the donations upon arrival or picking up during a specified window of time
Benefits
  • Make an impact in your community with a team of dedicated volunteers and staff
  • Knowledge that you are helping to stock the shelves in the food shelf, making it possible for Neighbors to feed families in the community
Times Available
  • Mondays, and Thursday Mornings
    • 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m,
  • On-Call substitute positions are also needed
All volunteers must be willing to attend at least 1 preliminary training shift. Please contact Volunteer Services to schedule your first shift.
