Each year, The Network - Advocating Against Domestic Violence (previously known as the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network) invites our supporters to celebrate another successful year of programming at our cool annual benefit, Chicago Chefs Spring Into Action. This reception-style party brings nearly 350 guests together with some of their favorite chefs from Chicago's culinary scene along with mixologists, coffee and tea connoisseurs and other amazing culinary figures. With this wide variety of purveyors, guests can taste portions of the chefs' favorite dishes, enjoy complimentary cocktails, beer and wine, bid on exciting silent auction items, race the paddle raise, and network with others who invest in our work and mission. Next event date is: April 30, 2020 at the fabulous Galleria Marchetti
We are looking for volunteers for our Event Planning Committees and Sub-Committees: Host, Auction, Chef, etc. Participation includes attending monthly in-person Committee meetings at our downtown office, weekly conference calls, contributing to group discussions and brainstorming sessions, and actively recruiting event attendees, host committee members, securing silent auction items, connecting with restaurants, etc. These meetings will take place after work hours.
Important Additional Details: This is not a one time commitment, but a six months project in preparation for our grand annual gala in the spring of 2020. Attendance at the benefit is required. Preference will be given to corporate volunteers.

Location:

Mission Statement
The Network is a group of 40+ member organizations dedicated to improving the lives of those impacted by gender-based violence through education, public policy and advocacy, and connecting community members with direct service providers. We lead collaborative work to imagine and realize radical ways to respond to and end gender-based violence, focusing on the intersections between systemic violence and gender-based violence.
Description
The Network performs its work in four focus areas:
- First response: The Network runs Illinois’ Official Statewide 24-hour Domestic Violence Hotline (877-863-6338) and serves as first responder for tens of thousands of Illinois residents each year. In FY2023, the hotline responded to over 32,000 calls & texts for help and information.
- Advocacy & Public Policy: The Network pursues an advocacy/policy agenda on behalf of victims and service providers. This Program works to change laws and regulations and presses for systems dealing with domestic violence to do so in ways that maximize the prevention of, and ultimately an end to, abuse.
- Professional Training: The Network’s Centralized Training Institute (CTI) presents expert training for human service and healthcare providers and criminal justice personnel.
- Member Services: The Network provides its members with a venue to work together on common policy initiatives, joint fundraising opportunities and capacity building.
