The SART (Sexual Assault Resource Team) Peers program is a peer education based program in District 6 (Greeley Schools). We work with student leaders who volunteer to be peer educators at their high school. After an extensive training in the fall, students begin presenting in health and PE classes district-wide to their peers about sexual assault and sexual harassment.
SART is looking for a diverse group of volunteer Mentors who are interested in supporting high school youth as they take on the task of educating their peers about sexual violence. Mentors with some basic victim advocacy training/skills and a basic knowledge of issues related to gender and sexual violence are preferred (additional training will be provided).
Responsibilities include:
Attend the initial 2.5-hour mentor training session
Attend one high school all-day (7 AM to 3 PM) training in the Fall (mid to late September or October).
Assist with training by facilitating small group discussions
Attend an average of 2-3 middle school presentations (60-90 minutes each) over the course of the academic year
Attend approximately 2-3 high school presentations (90 minutes each) over the course of the academic year
Be a resource to and source of support for peer educators
Provide constructive feedback to peers before and after presentations
Be available during class presentations to: help students who may need to process information; provide follow-up to connect students to services, etc.
Complete documentation and maintain contact with program coordinator
Benefits include:
Working with some of District 6's brightest, most passionate and ambitious students!
Empowering youth to become active "upstanders" in the prevention of violence in their community.

Mission Statement
The Sexual Assault Victim Advocate (SAVA) Center’s mission is to provide crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling for all those affected by sexual violence and provide prevention programs through community outreach and education. We envision a culture change that results in the end of sexual violence.
Description
SAVA began as a rape crisis hotline in 1976 under the Larimer Center for Mental Health and, in 2003, became an independent nonprofit agency. In October 2010, SAVA expanded its services to include neighboring Weld County. SAVA now serves as the only rape crisis center in Larimer and Weld Counties dedicated exclusively to serving the needs of sexual assault survivors. Each year, SAVA provides confidential support to over 700 victims of sexual assault and provides education to over 1,000 community members and 5,000 students. SAVA is a member of Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN), the Colorado Organization of Victim’s Assistance (COVA), and the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault (CCASA).
In addition to providing direct services to survivors, SAVA aims to reduce the incidence of sexual violence in our community through prevention education programming for youth. Our programs help youth ages 8-18 create safer spaces for themselves and others by addressing the root causes of sexual violence, promoting healthy relationships, and increasing social-activism and leadership skills.
