ORGANIZATION: The Science House

CMAST

The Science House at the NCSU Center for Marine Sciences and Technology is seeking individuals who are interested in assisting with K-12 youth programs, and adult educator professional development. This position is excellent for retired educators, individuals interested in coastal marine science and technology, or students interested in a career in STEM Education. Volunteers will be involved in activities that meet their needs and interest. Some of the activities involve:

  • Assist in Formal and In Formal Educator Professional Development- Coastal, Environmental Education, STEM Literacy, Engineering
  • Mentoring of high school youth involved in Marine Science Education 4H club
  • Assist with development and implementation of Coastal Science Cafe's for youth and adults
  • Assist with the Coastal Carolina MATE ROV (underwater robots) Competition
  • Development of instructional materials and kits for teachers
  • Assist with administrative and marketing functions
  • Assist with grant writing and program development
  • Run youth programs and camps

Mission Statement

The Science House at CMAST is the K-12 Educational Outreach Office that serves the teachers and students of coastal North Carolina. Our mission is to provide innovative STEM instruction and programs to K-12 teachers and students.

We are a small office located within the NCSU Center for Marine Sciences and Technology. We offer teacher professional development and student programs.
We facilitate national and international STEM competitions. Some of our programs are:
