On September 8, just before the Global Climate Action Summit brings leaders from around the world to San Francisco to discuss climate solutions, the people will come together to march outside the summit, and in hundreds of locations around the world.

Together we will march to protect our air, water, and land. We will march for our communities, for clean energy jobs, and for the people we love. We will commit to voting for climate champions. In solidarity with all those who are oppressed in our society, we will demand #ClimateJustice.

The Rise For Climate March San Diego will gather at City Hall, 202 C Street, San Diego, CA 92101, on Civic Center Plaza at 10 AM for live music, inspiring speeches, and participatory actions followed by a short march to South Embarcadero Park where we’ll have voter registration, activities, and a Kid’s Zone with games and face-painting.

About SANDIEGO350

Location:

3900 Cleveland Ave., Rm. 205, San Diego, CA 92103, US

Mission Statement

SanDiego350 is building a movement to prevent the worst impacts of climate change and climate injustice through education and outreach, public policy advocacy, and mobilizing people to take action.

Description

Our vision is for an informed, mobilized and united community that is empowered to reduce our carbon footprint, and hold our elected officials accountable for creating a low-carbon, sustainable and just world. Our power comes from our alliance with social justice, environmental, labor, health, faith and other partners.

History

In September 2011 we brought together hundreds of San Diego County residents, and we collectively called on our elected representatives to take immediate, strong action on climate change as part of 350.org’s international day of action on climate change. After that event, we decided to form a group and started organizing San Diegans to take action on climate change. We’ve organized San Diego’s largest climate mobilizations, including the 5,500-person "People’s Climate March" in 2017.
