At this hour-long, no commitment volunteer information session, you will learn about the Passaic County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) volunteer program and how you can make a difference in the lives of Passaic County children in foster care.
CASA volunteers are trained, dedicated adults who look out for a child's best interests while helping him or her move toward a safe and permanent home. CASAs have been best described as the "eyes and ears" of the Family Court. From helping siblings find permanent homes together to helping a child access needed services to uncovering information that helps reunite a loving family, CASA volunteers make an incredible difference to the lives of abused and neglected children.
Currently, there are more than 250 children who are waiting for an advocate just like you. Come join us and learn more!

Mission Statement
Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.
Description
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.
That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.
It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
