Do you have a passion for learning about different cultures?

Do you want to improve in a second language?

The Migrant Education Program is looking for volunteer tutors for migrant workers living and working near Alstead, New Hampshire. Our students are between the ages of 3-21 and come from a variety of countries, including the Dominican Republic, Nepal, and the DRC.

Tutors will help the migrant workers learn English as well as help the farm owners learn Spanish.

Through our volunteer program you will gain valuable experience working in a cross-cultural educational setting and know that you are making a difference.

Requirements:

  • Cultural sensitivity
  • English fluency
  • 1-2 hours per week
  • Spanish proficiency

Suggested Qualifications:

  • Some College
  • Tutoring or teaching experience
  • Volunteer experience

Description

The Migrant Education Program (Title I, Part C) is a federally-funded program that provides educational and support services for the eligible children of migrant workers, or the migrant workers themselves, if they are under 22 years old and have not graduated from high school.
