City Liaison - Buckeye

Arizona Sustainability Alliance (AZSA) Mission
To create and support cutting-edge, project-based sustainability solutions in Arizona

Vision and Mission - Cities
Support city staff to be able to achieve their sustainability goals

Role Purpose

  • Build relationships with key city officials to support sustainability efforts within the city that relate to AZSA’s priorities (urban forestry, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and conservation)
  • Support existing city initiatives
  • Develop new opportunities

Responsibilities

  • Act as the liaison between AZSA and the city
  • Present to city officials on the work that AZSA does
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration between AZSA and the city
  • Collaborate with AZSA priority leaders to develop new projects in four key priority areas (urban forestry, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and conservation)
  • Create new relationships or maintain existing relationships for AZSA with the city council and city staff
  • Attend pertinent city meetings (council, committees, etc.)

Ideal Skill Set

  • Poised and polished professional who will be comfortable representing AZSA at a high level and in meetings with city officials
  • Enthusiastic about networking and maintaining professional contacts
  • Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques with diverse audiences
  • Advanced presentation skills
  • Ability to communicate the reasoning behind decisions to others
  • Detail-oriented superstar that meets deadlines and produces quality results on time
  • Knowledge of sustainability topics or the ability to learn
  • Ability to read and understand government documents at the city, county, and state level
  • Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 5-10 hours a week
  • Must have some availability during the workweek for meetings with city officials


All AZSA positions are remote, with periodic fieldwork and other necessary in-person activities specific to the particular position.
