ORGANIZATION: NAMI San Fernando Valley

NAMI SFV

We have an immediate need for a motivated and creative Social Media Manager who is unafraid of the nature of a start up environment! Someone who can get our nationally recognized brand re-energized and blasted out in our local and national community. Although locally we've been around for more than 35 years, we're experiencing significant change. If you love a challenge, get excited by innovative and "out the box" thinking, want to increase your skill as a leader, and know the utter importance of a strong, dynamic social media presence, we want to talk to you immediately!

You will receive comprehensive training or who we are and what we do. Our Executive Director makes the support of our invaluable volunteer leaders a priority. You'll immediately contribute to our mission of helping build better lives for anyone affected by a mental illness when you:

  • Bring your enthusiastic and generous energy to learn, discover, and generate brilliant ideas that make us an outstanding nonprofit
  • Engage our friends, volunteers, members, donors and the interested public on a regular basis
  • Turn our friends into donors by working with our Development Director and Fundraising Content Writer
  • Increase our followership across all relevant platforms
  • Manage content and create a regular publishing schedule
  • Implement a content editorial calendar to manage content and help plan specific, timely marketing campaigns
  • Promote content through social advertising
  • Practice self-care to avoid burn out and to maintain enthusiasm for the organization and the cause
  • Understand where we are and where we'd like to go by collaborating on a social media marketing plan
  • Demonstrate continuous learning and implement best practices
We'll give you guidance on what to do stepping in the door and will continue to do that through our internal Slack workspace which keeps us connected through instant messages, phone calls, video-chats, and document sharing. We're also implementing Trello to assign and complete tasks. We challenge our volunteer leaders to gain the greatest benefit of a volunteer role by stretching their ability to take intiative. We want you to ask questions and connect with the people and resources needed to get the job done. That's the nature of start-up!

If you have a passion for helping people affected by mental illness, have lived experience, or have a family member who lives with a mental health condition, we REALLY want to talk to you! Please incude your phone number when you reply.

Description

NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

Started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979, NAMI has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, NAMI is an association of hundreds of local affiliates, state organizations and volunteers who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.
