Important: To volunteer for this event, you must RSVP here: https://onebrick.org/node/2334585

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Zoo New England's monthly Bottle and Can Drive raises money to support the Conservation Fund, which helps to protect endangered species in Massachusetts and around the world. In past years, the organization has earned between $3000 - $3500 a season during the drive, which is a great return on a relatively easy task.

NOTE: This event is wheelchair accessible and is able to accommodate volunteers with disabilities. If you require any accommodations, please let the event manager know, so we can work with the nonprofit hosting the event to make necessary accommodations. Thank you!

WHAT WE'LL BE DOING:

Volunteers will be sorting and bagging redeemable bottles and cans that people bring to the zoo. Volunteers will also get a tour of the zoo while they are here.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

It can be hard to predict how busy each Drive will be, and sometimes it gets hectic for an hour or so and then slows down. If it is a particularly slow day, there will be other tasks for volunteers so that they will always be productive and helping out.

You must be 21+ to volunteer with One Brick Boston.

WHERE TO MEET:

Volunteers should meet in the public parking lot of Stone Zoo, 149 Pond Street in Stoneham. The set-up area will be obvious, as the Drive is held in the lot itself. There will be someone there to meet them and orient them for the day. The Event Manager will contact all volunteers with more details as the event draws nearer.

ZOO NEW ENGLAND: Zoo New England's mission is to inspire people to protect and sustain the natural world for future generations by creating fun and engaging experiences that integrate wildlife and conservation programs, research, and education.

Mission Statement

One Brick provides support to local non-profit and community organizations by creating a unique, social and flexible volunteer environment for those interested in making a concrete difference in the community. We enable people to get involved, have an impact and have fun, without the requirements of individual long-term commitments.

Description

Headquartered in San Francisco, California, One Brick is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that brings volunteers together to support other local non-profits by adopting an innovative twist to the volunteer experience: we create a friendly and social atmosphere around volunteering, and after each volunteer event -- which typically lasts only 3 to 4 hours -- we invite volunteers to gather at a local restaurant or caf where they can get to know one another in a relaxed social setting.

Our 'commitment-free volunteering' allows you to choose when you volunteer, rather than having to make commitments for a certain number of volunteer hours, or agree to be available every week at a specific time.
