On August 24 th, The Zoo Society is proud to host the Pacific Seas Aquarium VIP Tasting Experience at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

This event will showcase the new Pacific Seas Aquarium and provide the guests with a VIP experience featuring live music, signature bites, and specialty cocktails as guests interact with staff and animals, and go behind-the-scenes as one of the first visitors to the Pacific Seas Aquarium.

Proceeds from this event will support animal care and the education and conservation programs at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.

We need your help! We’re looking to quickly fill volunteer roles, as this event is just around the corner!

We’re looking for 30 volunteers to help with:

Set up/take down, greeters, admissions, loading/cart drivers, lawn games greeters, cleaner/waste disposal, gate access control, and floaters.

Please note that we are also looking for a few volunteer leads that are flexible and have leadership experience.

On Thursday, August 23 rd, set up will run between the hours of 6:00pm-9:00pm.

On Friday, August 24 th, we will have shifts available between the hours of 3:00pm-1:00am, depending on the position. As an added bonus, volunteers on each day will also be provided a light dinner starting at 5:45pm!

We're hoping to conduct short phone interviews to match you with the position best suited for your needs/skill set.

Note: Volunteers must be at least 18 years old to help with set up/take down. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old to help out during the event due to proximity of alcohol.

The Zoo Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit fundraising organization whose mission and purpose is to engage our community in support of Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium’s education, conservation, research and preservation efforts through the Pacific Northwest, the Pacific Rim and beyond.

About the Zoo:

Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium is located on 29 acres within Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park. The Zoo is a national leader in endangered species breeding and reintroduction efforts and is a fully accredited member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). It is the only combined zoo and aquarium in the Northwest, with annual attendance of more than 720,000 visitors annually.
