Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles provides equine-assisted therapy and a lot of smiles on a weekly basis, year-round, to more than 100 children and adults with a wide variety of physical and developmental disabilities. Our program, with the exception of the instructors, is volunteer run. All of our classes are full and we have a lot of new young riders that need more assistance. Come take a walk with us - make a smile and get your steps in.
In addition to helping with our riding lessons, we also need a hand around the farm, and assistance with administrative work. Volunteers of all skill sets welcome!

Mission Statement
Offering Alternative Therapy with Smiles was founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 1997 by Nancy Lee Heussner. Located on 50 acres in Clarkston, Mich., O.A.T.S. and its crew of caring, dedicated and enthusiastic instructors and volunteers provide equine-assisted therapy and a lot of smiles on a weekly basis, to more than 100 children and adults with a wide variety of physical, mental and emotional challenges. Most of our clients live in Oakland County.

By supporting O.A.T.S. program, you are providing individuals with special health and developmental needs a unique form of therapy which allows them the opportunity to improve their quality of life through their interaction with our horses.
